globalenergymonitor - Global Energy Monitor The mission of Global Energy Monitor (GEM) is to develop and share information in support of the worldwide movement for clean energy. Link In a world confronting climate change, data that informs strategies and solutions is more important than ever. Global Energy Monitor studies the evolving international energy landscape, creating databases, reports, and interactive tools that enhance understanding. Our work transforms complexity into clarity, enhancing the quality of public discourse on energy and the environment. GEM is developing a comprehensive set of tools that allow users to zoom out for summaries and analysis at the regional or global scale, or zoom in for background and details on any element of the system — coal mine, nuclear power plant, wind farm, oil extraction field, fossil gas pipeline, or oil tanker. Global Solar Power Tracker The Global Solar Power Tracker is a worldwide dataset of utility-scale solar PV facilities. It includes solar farm phases with capacities of 20 megawatts (MW) or more (10 MW or more in Arabic-speaking countries). A solar project phase is generally defined as a group of one or more solar units that are installed under one permit, one power purchase agreement, and typically come online at the same time. The Global Solar Power Tracker catalogs every solar farm phase at these capacity thresholds of any status, including operating, announced, under development, under construction, shelved, cancelled, mothballed, or retired. Global Wind Power Tracker The Global Wind Power Tracker (GWPT) is a worldwide dataset of utility-scale wind facilities. It includes wind farm phases with capacities of 10 megawatts (MW) or more. A wind project phase is generally defined as a group of one or more wind turbines that are installed under one permit, one power purchase agreement, and typically come online at the same time. The GWPT catalogs every wind farm phase at this capacity threshold of any status, including operating, announced, under development, under construction, shelved, cancelled, mothballed, or retired. Global Geothermal Power Tracker The Global Geothermal Power Tracker (GGtPT) is a worldwide dataset of geothermal power facilities. It includes geothermal power plant units with capacities of 30 megawatts (MW) or more. The GGtPT catalogs every geothermal power plant unit at this capacity threshold of any status, including operating, announced, under development, under construction, shelved, cancelled, mothballed, or retired. Global Gas Plant Tracker The Global Gas Plant Tracker (GGPT) is a worldwide dataset of gas-fired power plants. It includes units with capacities of 50 megawatts (MW) or more (20 MW or more in the European Union and the United Kingdom). The GGPT catalogs every gas power plant at this capacity threshold of any status, including operating, announced, pre-construction, construction, shelved, cancelled, mothballed, or retired. Global Coal Plant Tracker The Global Coal Plant Tracker (GCPT) provides information on coal-fired power units from around the world generating 30 megawatts and above. The GCPT catalogues every operating coal-fired generating unit, every new unit proposed since 2010, and every unit retired since 2000. Units often consist of a boiler and turbine, and several units may make up one coal-fired power station. The map and underlying data is updated bi-annually, in January and July. Global Hydropower Tracker The Global Hydropower Tracker (GHT) is a worldwide dataset of hydroelectric facilities. The first full release, including a global interactive map and a wiki page for each project, is scheduled for Q2 2023. Global Nuclear Power Tracker The Global Nuclear Power Tracker (GNPT) is a worldwide dataset of nuclear facilities. The first full release, including a global interactive map and a wiki page for each project, is scheduled for Q4 2022. Global Bioenergy Power Tracker The Global Bioenergy Power Tracker (GBPT) is a worldwide dataset of bioenergy facilities. It includes project phases with capacities of 30 megawatts (MW) or more. The first full release, including a global interactive map and a wiki page for each project, is scheduled for Q4 2022. |
