Aug 20, 2026 - Can This Nuclear Fuel Help Solve India`s Energy Crisis?

India has spent decades chasing an ambitious energy goal: turning its vast thorium reserves into nuclear power.
Much of that thorium is found along the country`s coastlines, including Kerala and Odisha. Harnessing it could help India reduce its reliance on imported energy, and move closer to energy independence.
But thorium`s path to commercial success has been elusive. One of the potential solutions that India is exploring is ANEEL — a blend of uranium and thorium. And to prove it can work, its developers have taken the fuel to a remote facility in the United States, the world`s most powerful test reactor.
