Jan 24, 2023 - Debate over where Australia`s offshore wind turbines should be placed

By the end of this decade, hundreds of giant wind turbines will be spinning off our coastlines. The Federal Government has just declared Gippsland in Victoria as the first offshore wind zone, and it`s also considering sites in New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia. The turbines will generate a significant amount of the renewable energy Australia needs to transition from coal, but there`s heated debate about where to place them and what parts of our coastline should be protected from development.
