Aug 6, 2026 - Renewable Energy Surpasses 40 Percent of China`s Total Power Generation Recent data from China`s National Energy Administration shows that 40 percent of the country`s total electricity generated in H1 this year was created by renewable resources. The NEA`s report shows China generated 2 trillion kilowatt-hours of clean energy, about 9 percent more than the same period last year, and accounting for 41.2 percent of the total power. Specifically, wind and solar power generation totaled 1.25 trillion kilowatt hours, up more than 9 percent year on year. The NEA says China generated 2.5 trillion kilowatt-hours of coal powered energy, roughly 49 percent of the total. It`s the first time ever that coal-fired electricity has accounted for less than half of the country`s total power generation. |
