Sep 19, 2016 - NordLink: The green link

NordLink – „the green link“– is the first direct connection between power markets in Norway and Germany. The 623-kilometre-long interconnector has a capacity of 1,400 megawatts (± 525 Kilovolt) and will make it possible to exchange renewable energies: hydropower from Norway and wind energy from Germany. At the same time, NordLink plays a part in ensuring reliable supply in both countries, furthermore it will help reduce CO2 emissions and reach climate goals. Due to the distance involved and its high transmission capacity, NordLink will be realised as HVDC transmission.
