Feb 18, 2026 - Kinsuka Hydroelectric Power Station Kinsuka Power is a 900 MW privately led hydropower project planned on the Congo River in Kinshasa. Conceived as a strategic response to the Democratic Republic of Congo`s long-term energy needs, it reflects a strong entrepreneurial vision aimed at reinforcing the country`s energy security and supporting sustainable economic growth. The project is being developed by Kinsuka Power, a joint venture bringing together Great Lake Energy — founded by Congolese entrepreneur Yves Kabongo — and Groupe Forrest International, led by Malta David Forrest, through its energy subsidiary Congo Energy, managed by Spyros Giourgas. This partnership combines local initiative with industrial expertise and long-standing experience in infrastructure development. With a planned installed capacity of 900 MW and an estimated annual production of 7,450 GWh, Kinsuka Power has the potential to significantly increase electricity supply to Kinshasa, support the expansion of industrial and mining zones, and contribute to strengthening the stability of the national grid. |
