In this video, I visited the world`s tallest solar tower — 263 meters of high-tech engineering, surrounded by a field of mirrors so massive you can even see it from space. It is part of one of the largest solar parks in the world, where a combination of photovoltaics and this solar tower generates electricity across an area of 77 square kilometers. By 2030, this park is expected to generate up to eight gigawatts of power. But there`s a problem. A tiny problem that can drastically reduce the efficiency of this billion-dollar project: sand. In this video, I`m going to dive into the technology behind it, compare photovoltaics with the solar tower, and look at a brilliant solution to the sand problem.
