Jul 2, 2025 - Making carbon capture and storage a reality in Sweden

Filbornaverket is one of Sweden`s most advanced waste-to-energy facilities.
🏭Operated by municipal energy utility Öresundskraft, the plant not only recovers energy and materials from residual waste, but it`s now entering a new phase—integrating a full-scale carbon capture and storage system.
The EU-funded project aims to be a benchmark example for waste-to-energy circularity and will play a key role in the climate neutrality goals of Helsingborg and it`s 150 000 inhabitants.
The CCS facility is likely to cost approximately 273 euros and will capture 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
