China unveils its new energy blueprint and action plan for carbon peaking during the 2026–2030 period. The country is aiming to build a clean, secure and efficient new energy system by the end of the decade. But scaling up clean energy is only part of the picture. The country is also strengthening grids and storage capacity, improving market and pricing mechanisms, maintaining energy security, and managing the continuing role of fossil fuels. The question now: can China turn rapid renewable expansion into a truly integrated and resilient system, and what does its transformation mean for the global energy transition?
